T-Bones Topple Saints in Showcase Opener

Sioux Falls, SD – The Independent Baseball Showcase opened with a bang on Saturday afternoon as the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League defeated the St. Paul Saints of the American Association 14-5.

The T-Bones ran away with the game after scoring four runs in each the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.  Neb Brown led the way going 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and a sixth inning grand slam.

The Saints scored their four runs on eight team hits.  The offensive highlight for St. Paul was a seventh inning solo home run by Jeff DeSmidt.

There will be two more games played in the showcase.  At 4 p.m. the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League will play the American Association’s Lincoln Saltdogs, and at 7 p.m. the Northern League’s Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will take on the showcase host, and defending American Association Champion, Sioux Falls Canaries.
