KANSAS CITY, Kan. – T-Bones starter Casey Barnes pitched a complete game against Gary SouthShore in 6-1 win in front of 7,639 fansnight at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
After failing to get a win in his last five starts, Barnes pitched remarkably in his first win since . He allowed just one run off three hits, and struck out six. From the final out in the first into the fifth, Barnes retired 11 straight batters. Barnes (3-4) allowed just five base runners all evening.
Kansas City jumped on RailCats starter Morgan Coombs (6-9) early. In the bottom of the first T.J. Mittelstaedt got things going with a lead-off single, and scored on an RBI double by Danny Richar.
The T-Bones took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Mittelstaedt followed up a lead-off single by Robby Kuzdale with an RBI double of his own, and was brought home by a sacrifice fly by Matt Padgett.
Padgett, starting the sixth off with a walk, scored when Ray Sadler launched a home run over the left-field wall that gave Kansas City a 5-0 lead.
Bryan Sabatella extended his hitting streak to 10 consecutive games with a single to right in the sixth inning.
