The Kansas City T-Bones (39-46) suffered their fifth straight loss on Saturday night as they fell to the Lincoln Saltdogs (44-41), 6-3, in front of 7,985 spectators at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The Saltdogs pushed their lead to four with a three-run third against starter Kris Johnson (4-3), plating the first two tallies on a double by Jeff Howell. An RBI double by Joseph Ramos followed to cap off the inning.
Rico Washington connected for a solo home run to begin the third and bring Kansas City back within three, 5-2. That was the final run Brewer would allow as the right-hander surrendered two runs on six hits over five innings in the victory.
Fasano opened the sixth with a solo blast off reliever Nick Schreiber to make the score 5-3. Lincoln responded with their final run in the top of the seventh to cap the score at 6-3.
Johnson took the loss for Kansas City after allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits over seven innings. It was the left-hander’s first loss since June 22, a span of nine starts. He went 4-0 over that stretch.
Drew Graham allowed two hits over two scoreless innings of relief to close out the game for the T-Bones. Fasano finished two-for-five with a home run and two RBI to pace Kansas City.
Matt Mitchell (2-5, 8.60) and the T-Bones look to avoid the three-game sweep on Sunday night as they face John James (9-5, 5.21) and Lincoln. First pitch is set for 5:05. To secure your seats call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com.
