Krysa Continues to Struggle as T-Bones Fall 14-12

05/29/2007 10:10 PM -

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Despite scoring seven unearned runs with two outs in the eighth inning, the Kansas City T-Bones fell to the Schaumburg Flyers 14-12 for their seventh consecutive loss.

Starting pitcher Jonathan Krysa (pictured), the only returning T-Bone from their inaugural 2003 season, had his shortest outing of the season, falling to 0-3 after allowing eight runs on seven hits in one and two-thirds innings.  He walked four in that span, giving him a league-leading 16 on the season.

The Flyers got four runs a piece in each of the first two innings for a quick 8-0 lead over Kansas City.  After walks to Sandy Almonte and Josh Noviskey loaded the bases in the first inning, Dario Delgado hit a grand slam to left field for the early 4-0 lead.  Noviskey would single home Kevin Bass and Demetrius Heath in the second inning for the first two runs of the frame and later scored on a wild pitch to cap off the second straight four-run inning for the Flyers.

The T-Bones loaded the bases in the fourth inning with three straight singles by Donaldo Mendez, Mario Delgado and Brad Correll off Flyers starter Nat Harris.  A walk to Austin Easley would plate Mendez for the first T-Bones run and a single from the newly acquired Nelson Gord scored two more for Kansas City.  With two outs, Aharon Eggleston hit a line drive to right with the bases loaded, but a diving catch from Billy Malone ended the threat for the T-Bones.  Harris would pick up his first victory of the season after allowing three runs on five hits in five innings of work.

With the T-Bones trailing 12-4 in the eighth inning Jason Belcher hit a two-out groundball to shortstop Sandy Almonte that was thrown away at first, scoring Donaldo Mendez from third starting the T-Bones comeback.  Following the error the next eight batters all reached, six of them scoring to give the T-Bones a seven run frame to put them within one.  All seven runs in the inning were unearned.

Schaumburg came back with two unearned runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth to push their lead to three.  Austin Easley hit a solo home run in the ninth, but the T-Bones were stuck on the losing end for the seventh straight game.

Chris Krawczyk, Travis Schlichting, Brett Reid and Matt Schweitzer all appeared in relief for the T-Bones.  Schlichting and Reid both made their first appearances on the mound of the road trip.

The road trip continues tomorrow night when Kenny Durost goes against Dan Grybash at 7:05 from Alexian Field.
