08/26/2005 10:24 PM - Greg Bicknell earned his league-record tying fifteenth win of the season, striking out seven in a 3-2 Kansas City T-Bone win over the Sioux Falls Canaries. Bicknell was buoyed by a fourth-inning three-run homer to right by Rafael Rodriguez, which was all the support he needed in picking up the win in front of 5,719 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan.
Bicknell did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, a double down the left field line by Jonny Kaplan. Kaplan went to third on a throwing error by left fielder Ross Cook and scored on an Alex Llanos groundout to give Sioux Falls a short-lived 1-0 lead.
The Canaries got within one on a fifth-inning solo homer by Joe Hapanionek, his second of the season. Bicknell would allow just three more hits before leaving the game after the top of the eighth.
In the bottom of the eighth, Sioux Falls manager Mike Pinto replaced reliever Jason Cierlik with Sammy Martinez. Pinto went out to the mound to speak with Martinez, but under Rule 8.06, Pinto wasn't permitted to visit the mound prior to Martinez throwing a pitch. Martinez was removed from the game and the Canaries played the game under protest.
T-Bone reliever Mike Cosgrove threw a scoreless ninth to earn his first save as a T-Bone.
