T-Bones Fall In Series Finale, 7-4

08/15/2005 10:00 PM - The Kansas City T-Bones fell behind the St. Paul Saints, 5-0, but scratched back to within 5-4 before the Saints scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning against Kansas City starter Jonathan Krysa to take three of four from the T-Bones in front of 5,894 at Midway Stadium in St. Paul, Minn.

Krysa (L, 5-10) struck out eight in his tenth loss of the season, but allowed two runs in the first inning and three in the third. Saint T Brown singled in a run in the first inning, one of three hits for the veteran left fielder. Brown also drove in a run in the seventh inning with a single to score Billy Munoz, who had doubled.

Munoz, who was the hero in the nightcap of the doubleheader last night, doubled twice in the game and scored two runs while driving in two.

The T-Bones got on the board in the first inning when Ray Brown doubled down the left-field line and scored on a Brandon Jones groundout. Brown drove in single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, the second coming on a bases-loaded walk from reliever Matt Pike. The T-Bones would score twice in the bottom of the seventh to get within a run, but left the bases loaded against Pike.

Luis Villarreal started on the mound for the Saints. The lefty had no-hit the T-Bones earlier in the month, but Eric Vega smacked a double down the left-field line to start the game and end Villarreal’s hopes for a second no-hitter. Villarreal (W, 7-7) earned his seventh win of the season, scattering eight hits and allowing four runs in six-plus innings of work.

Matt Hammons (S, 20) allowed two baserunners in the ninth inning but didn’t allow any runs in earning his twentieth save of the season for the Saints.
