The expansion Calgary Vipers defeated the T-Bones 11-4 Monday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The loss ended KC's season-long six-game winning streak and was the team's first loss in the month of June.
Calgary starter Evan Greusel (3-1) got the win by pitching a gem against the same team that had scored nine runs and racked up 15 hits the night before. The former Florida Marlins draft choice pitched eight solid innings allowing three runs on six hits while fanning six.
Second baseman Mike Brown highlighted the T-Bone offense with his first inning two-run shot. The homer was Brown's first of the year and extended his hitting streak to six games. In the ninth, third baseman Brandon Jones homered for the third consecutive game, his sixth of the season..
Viper first baseman Greg Morrison led the offense charge for Calgary hitting two home runs and driving in four and center fielder Fehlandt Lentini had three RBI's.
T-Bone defensive miscues contributed greatly to Calgary's sixth win of the season. The T-Bones committed a Northern League record-tying seven errors in the game. First baseman Ray Brown had three errors in the Viper three-run third inning and four total. Starter Jon McDonald (2-1) received the loss for the T-Bones pitching 5.2 innings allowing nine runs, only five of which were earned.
Notes: Eddie Pearson extended his hitting streak to 11 games... KC is is 4-4 when committing more than two errors in a game... Both the series and homestand conclude with tomorrow's 7:05 meeting.
