The Kansas City T-Bones (7-8) fell to the St. Paul Saints (10-4), 10-4, in the second game of their three-game series on Saturday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
With 4,107 on hand, Ryne Reynoso (2-1) began the game with a perfect top of the first for Kansas City before the T-Bones took a 1-0 lead against Matt Long (2-1) in the bottom of the inning. Keanon Simon opened the frame with a double, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Rico Washington.
The score remained the same until the top of the third when St. Paul took a 4-1 lead, plating four runs on three hits and one error. Jonathan Jaspe began the bottom of the frame with a walk and later scored the T-Bones second run of the game on an RBI double by Simon. The Saints answered immediately with a solo home run by Adam Frost in the top of the fourth to reclaim a three-run advantage.
The first four batters of the sixth reached safely for St. Paul to begin a five-run frame that pushed the score to 10-2. A bases-loaded walk to the fourth hitter chased Reynoso in favor of Kyle Dahman. Dahman surrendered three straight singles and a walk before retiring the next three batters to end the inning.
Reynoso suffered the loss after allowing nine runs, six earned, on eight hits over five-plus innings. Long allowed just two runs on six hits over seven innings for St. Paul in the victory.
Kansas City capped the score at 10-4 with a two-run eighth, capitalizing on two errors and an RBI single by Brian Joynt. Aaron Cook threw two scoreless innings in his T-Bones debut, and Andy Shipman added a perfect ninth to finish the game for Kansas City.
The T-Bones look to prevent the sweep tomorrow night as they send Devin Anderson (2-0, 3.79) to face Donald Brandt (3-0, 0.82) and St. Paul in a battle of left-handers. First pitch is set for 5:05. Call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com to secure your seats today.
