T-Bones, Northern League Continue Success

For the third straight season, the Kansas City T-Bones finished with the fourth-highest attendance average in independent baseball with a mark of 5,340 in 2009.

Since their 2007 season, when they were named Northern League Organization of the Year, Kansas City has become a fixture near the top of the independent league attendance standings, joining the Winnipeg Goldeyes to give the Northern League two of the top four teams.  There were 56 total independent teams across seven leagues in 2009.

In 2009, Kansas City drew 245,625 fans in 46 games.  They have drawn at least 200,000 in each of their seven seasons since moving to Kansas City in 2003.  The top five independent league franchises by attendance average in 2009:

  1. Winnipeg Goldeyes (Northern) - 6,180
  2. Long Island Ducks (Atlantic) - 6,014
  3. St. Paul Saints (AA) - 5,689
  4. Kansas City T-Bones (Northern) - 5,340
  5. Somerset Patriots (Atlantic) - 5,305
