“The T-Bones have had a spirited rivalry with Lincoln in the past and we look forward to beginning one with our new Kansas independent rival in Wichita. I’d further hope this can be a precursor to inter-league play in coming seasons,” said John Ehlert, president and CEO of the T-Bones.
The RedHawks will play the Wingnuts on Saturday, May 3rd, with the first pitch set for 2pm. Then the T-Bones will take on the Saltdogs that same night at 7pm. On Sunday, May 4th, the teams will switch and the RedHawks will face the Saltdogs at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, with the first pitch set for noon. After that game’s conclusion, the T-Bones will take on their interstate rival, the Wingnuts, with the first pitch set for 5pm.
"This is a great idea and I hope this marks the first of many. Playing against good competition prepares clubs for the season,” said Harry Stavrenos, Northern League Director of Operations. “The crowds in Kansas City during the NL-AA Challenge will be big."
