KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The American Association has announced that T-Bones pitcher Josh Hodges is the league’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 17. This comes one week after Kansas City’s Brett Wiley was selected as the league’s Player of the Week.

Hodges, whom the T-Bones acquired on July 7 in a trade with Joplin, went 1-0 with a 1.39 ERA in two starts last week. In giving up only two runs in 13 innings, Hodges scattered 11 hits and three walks, while striking out seven.

On Saturday night at Joplin, Hodges got the win after giving up four hits and one run, while walking one and striking out five in 7 innings of Kansas City’s 11-1 win. In his first start for Kansas City, Tuesday at Laredo, Hodges went 6 innings and gave up one run. He was in line for the win but the T-Bones lost the lead before winning 5-4 in 10 innings.

In three appearances with Kansas City, Hodges is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 15 innings. This season, including his time with Joplin, Hodges is 3-4 with a 4.35 ERA. This is Hodges’ first season in independent baseball. The then-Florida Marlins selected him in the seventh round of the 2009 June Amateur Draft. Hodges split time last year between single-A and double-A.

Hodges is scheduled to start for Kansas City on Thursday at Lincoln.

Hodges is the first T-Bones pitcher to receive the league’s pitcher of the week honor since Trent Lare got it for the week ending July 31, 2011. Coincidentally, as with this time, the T-Bones had the offensive player of the week — Ray Sadler — the week prior to Lare receiving the pitching honor.
