LAREDO, Texas. – The Kansas City T-Bones, pitched to a 3-0 win Saturday night, over Laredo at Uni-Trade Stadium.
The T-Bones took the lead in the third inning, as Kansas City scored two runs off Laredo starting pitcher Matt Loosen (1-1). Ryan Cavan singled with one-out, and advanced to third on Jake Blackwoods single. Nate Tenbrink with the infield in, reached on a fielders choice, as Lemur second baseman Abel Nieves was late to the plate, and allowed Cavan to score. Two batters later, Kyle Robinson plated Blackwood, to give Kansas City a 2-0 lead.
The T-Bones added another run, in the fifth inning, when Cavan scored all the way from first, on an errant pickoff attempt by Loosen.
T-Bones starting pitcher Bobby Doran (2-1) pitched six scoreless innings, and allowed just three hits. T-Bones relievers Aaron Baker, Kris Regas and Jonathon Kountis (3) each pitched scoreless innings to preserve the shutout. Kountis pitched a perfect ninth inning, with two strikeouts to pick-up his third save of the season, and second of the series.
T-Bones infielder Ryan Cavan finished the game with four hits.
The win for Kansas City, gives them their third straight series win. Casey Barnes (2-1) gets the start for Kansas City Sunday evening, with the T-Bones eyeing their first sweep of the season.
The T-Bones (8-12) have won seven of the last nine games, and continue the series with Laredo (10-11) Sunday night at Uni-Trade Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 6pm.
