The Kansas City T-Bones

Reading Program

The Kansas City T-Bones are proud to continue the popular T-Bones Reading Program, brought to you by Providence Medical Center and Saint John Hospital. Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., and Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth, Kan. will team up with the Kansas City T-Bones to continue its popular T-Bones Reading Program. Other sponsors include Kansas City Board of Public Utilities.

“The cornerstone of the program is a series of school visits by T-Bones’ staff and mascot Sizzle,” said Adam Ehlert, T-Bones Vice-President “Since the program’s inception, thousands of children have enjoyed free minor league baseball games simply as a reward for reading books of their choice.”

The program is simple for all involved: parents, educators and most importantly, children! In a nutshell: children read a total of 2000 minutes, recording their minutes on the T-Bones scoresheet. Once all the baseballs are filled, children can redeem it for free T-Bones tickets.

“We support and salute the efforts of the T-Bones in making reading a priority for children,” said Catherine Rice, Senior Associate of Communications for Providence and Saint John.

“The Providence Health Service League has been at the forefront in providing free books to our new mothers and fathers in our Family Care Center as a way to promote early reading,” said Aimee Galvin, Development Association/Service League staff liaison. “Our continued sponsorship of this program is an outgrowth of what we are already doing at the hospital.”
